João Luís Carrilho da Graça

JOÃO LUÍS CARRILHO DA GRAÇA WAS BORN IN 1952
  • Degree by the School of Fine Arts of Lisbon in 1977, professor at the School of Architecture of Lisbon Technical University between 1977 and 1992.
  • Currently is visiting professor at the Department of Architecture of the Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa, since 2001. He has taught at a great number of Architecture Schools in Seminars, Conferences and during a semester.
  • He was given the International Art Critic and Artist Association Prize in 1992 for his works and for the construction da Higher School of Social Communication; "Relating to the Location" Award, honourable mention (Association of Portuguese Architects), Campo Maior Swimming Pool, 1993, Secil Award in 1944, School of Social Communication, Lisbon; Grand Prize of the Jury "FAD" 1999 - Pavilhão do Conhecimento dos Marés, Expo 98, Lisbon; Luzboa Award 2004; Nominated countless times for the Mies Van Der Rohe Award, European Architecture Prize.
  • Published Extensively in a number of Architectural books and Magazines, most recently in "Electa", Monography "João Luís Carrilho da Graça, Opere E Progetti", 2003.
  • Distinguished with the Order of Merit of the Portuguese Republic
